Amber has three official beds. Her ‘Big Girl Bed’ for big girls who sleep in the laundry at night on their own, ‘Day Bed’ is her memory mattress located in the lounge room amongst the action and ‘Red Bed’ is her red pillow next to my desk.
Amber has unofficially claimed two other spots in the house. Every night she stands up on her back legs, staring up at me with needy wide desperate eyes whilst tapping the lounge with her front paws, chewy or toy piggy held firmly in her mouth, waiting to be ‘asked up’. Which I am sure only occurs because she is too little to make it up herself. She will then elegantly weave her way like a Siamese cat into her favorite spot amongst an array of red and white pillows.
Recently it would seem a pattern has formed where she likes to hope up onto my bed first thing in the morning. As I open the door of her room I am greeted by a flash of white and black as she dashes past me on route direct no stop over’s to 1st class. She yips and spins in circles, tail wagging, displaying perfect play bows. I naturally am totally sucked in by this display that I immediately pick her up so that she can leap into the middle of the fluffy doona.
However, this is not apparently the time for sleeping; Amber has now entered the ultimate attention zone. Leaping all over the doona from one end to the other digging, rolling, flipping, and flopping this way and that. She now has my 100% undivided attention for at least 20 minutes. I just observe her showing off as many comedic acts she can draw upon in order to receive an approving cuddle or giggle from me. Amber is quite the clown!
I do often sit back and think to myself ‘I really should not be encouraging this…if she wasn’t just so darn cute’. O.k. maybe just this one last time, I can address the bed rules tomorrow morning.Sharing Is Caring!
