Sometime ago I had read about this cafe up on the Sunshine Coast that was creating quite a following of fans. Not only for the fact that it is dog-friendly; with a menu dedicated just to pooches, also because of the human menu, service and quirky decor. We love supporting dog friendly venues so we just had to check it out.
Let me tell you about “The Velo Project”. Located in the suburban backstreets of Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast, if it was not for word of mouth you may never even known it existed! What a shame for all those people who are yet to discover this awesome cafe.
The Velo Project has a strong focus on supporting local farmers & local suppliers of produce. This is evident in the unique choices available on the menu.
Butchers Ham, Smokey BBQ Sauce, Baby Spinach, Cheddar Cheese & Fried Egg Crepe!
We arrived just before mid-day for lunch with Amber and Indy in tow. Indy was still recovering from his recent hip surgery so we also had his little pram. On arrival we were promptly greeted by our delightful waitress who offered a table outside, a bottle of water for us and bowl of water for Amber and Indy.
Roasted Field Mushrooms, Sweet Potato, Bocconcini, Avocado Mousse, Baby Spinach & Chia Pecan Dukkah (GF) Crepe!
Everything on the menu looks so good! Finally we settled on a heavenly gluten free vegetarian crepe and breaky style crepe each to enjoy. Amber and Indy got to enjoy a cookie from “The Dogue Menu” to share. Delivered to the table on a little plastic plate! We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and Amber and Indy LOVED their cookie, scoffing it down in minutes.

After lunch we sat back to enjoy the cool coastal breeze; while taking in all the interesting little details and pieces spread out across the cafe.
We LOVE The Velo Project!
Is The Velo Project the “Sunshine Coast’s most dog-friendly” cafe? We think it might be! Why not see for yourself? PS: Just don’t mind the lady outside of the bathroom ;).
Oh and before I forget, I just noticed they have launched a new spring menu! Looks like it is time to head back up to the coast again!
