We live in a world where so many products are mass produced to the point of appearing “cookie cut”; many lack quality, uniqueness and certainly void of the handmade art of craftsmanship.
“The Dutchess”
MODPawed came about as a result of Leo Merriman’s Labrador, Blackie, who kept losing his tag. Tired of constantly replacing his tag with the “run of the mill” engraved ones you find in most pet stores Leo went about designing and handcrafting something that was durable, unique and represented Blackie’s personality. “The Rebel” was created.
Nearly 5 years later MODPawed are proud to have a selection of over 100 handmade in the USA beautiful, edgy, pretty and distinctive designs to choose from. However, the unique designs are not their only point of difference; the tags are made primarily from 3 durable metals; Aluminium, Brass, and Copper and the letters and numbers are hand-pressed deep into the metal.
“The Rex”
Unlike other tags they last longer and your pets details are not “rubbed” off over time. In the unlikely event you cannot find the perfect tag in their range for your pooch or puss, don’t fret, MODPawed are more than happy to work with you to create the perfect look!
The MODPawed range have three categories based on the size of your pet. 3/4″ (cats & small dogs), 1″ (medium dogs) and 1.25″ (large dogs). Prices range from approx $8.00 to $21.50USD
I was handed the hardest job of all, to choose just two from the range! They are all so beautiful and unique in their own-right, thankfully, each tag has a large clear photo and description behind their design, which is handy if you are trying to “capture” your fur-babies personality.
I did not want the tags to be lost in all their Papillon glory so I finally settled on two from the 1″ (medium size) range that suit Amber and Indy’s personalities perfectly; “The Dutchess” and “The Rex”.

My Verdict: When the tag’s arrived I was pretty excited to see how they turned out. I was impressed with how durable yet lightweight they were and I can honestly say that the images do not do them enough justice. They are simply beautiful!
With the prices ranging from approx $8.00 to $21.50USD I certainly found the tags to be competitively priced against machine manufactured ones found in your local pet store.
Why would anyone now choose a generic tag for their most beloved and unique pooch or puss when they can have something very special?
